The Fort Payne City Board of Education announces the following vacancies in the Fort Payne City School System.á Application forms may be obtained by contacting the Fort Payne City Board of Education, P.O. Box 681029, Fort Payne, Alabama, (256) 845-0915.á Applications should be submitted to this same address.á Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.á Vacancies are posted on a designated bulletin board in the following locations: Wills Valley Elementary School, Williams Avenue Elementary School, Fort Payne Middle School, Fort Payne High School, Maintenance/Transportation Facility and the Central Office.á The Fort Payne Board of Education is an equal opportunity employer.

FILLING OF VACANCIES
ááááááááááááááááááááááá By Alabama Law the Board of Education is charged with the approving of ail personnel upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. No person may be employed by the Board without the Superintendent's written recommendation; therefore, policy relative to employment is set mainly by State Law
ááááááááááááááááááááááá To encourage employees to do a job worthy of consideration for promotion, the following policy is hereby adopted:
  1. When vacancies occur, consideration will be given by the Superintendent to all currency employed persons who qualify for the open position. Notice of the vacancy will be posted at each school (each certified employee's record will indicate qualifications by certificate for certain positions. Other factors such as personality, experience, cooperation, attitude, etc., will be considered).
  2. The recommendation of the Superintendent and decision of the Board will be final. There will be no further discussion concerning the decision, nor will the policy on grievance apply.
  3. The Superintendent will be responsible for administering this policy.
Recruitment
ááááááááááááááááááááááá School Superintendents must nominate in writing for appointment by the Board of education all employees of the Board.
ááááááááááááááááááááááá All recruitment and hiring must follow procedures that assure nondiscrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, disability, religion, national origin or any other status, factor, or consideration prohibited by law.
ááááááááááááááááááááááá The Board is required to post notice of vacancy for each vacant personnel position which includes::
áááááááááááááááááááááááááá
job description and title; required qualification, salary and amount, information on where to send applications, application deadline, and any other relevantá information.ááááááááááááááááááá
áááá The notice must be posted at a conspicuous place at each campus and worksite fourteen (14) calendar days before the position is filled unless school is in session.á If school is in session, the notice must be published for only seven (7) calendar days unless it involves positions which are supervisory, managerial, or are newly created, in which case notice for fourteen (14) calendar days is required.

ááááááááááááááááááááááá The board may adopt policies to ensure the safety and welfare of students during a dire emergency to allow the posting to be temporarily delayed.
